Are you fed up with finding used drinking containers on the beach,
in the river bank, under the hedge?
We can stop this happening by sending in details of every bottle or can, glass, plastic or metal, and we can include them in Strandliners response to the Government consultation (see poster below).
All of our records may be the most important data that we have ever recorded.
Please help Strandliners lobby for the most useful deposit return scheme.

Future Events
With the COVID-19 guidelines changing we are beginning to organise events. There may still be changes as we need to continually assess the situation, but here is what is planned so far.
Cuckmere and Holywell, Eastbourne Spring Water Festival
Cuckmere – microplastic & mesoplastic survey.
30 to 45 minute walk on a flat track (each way) and a 1 hour survey activity (along the river bank).
Saturday 15th May
10am to 10.50am
11am to 11.50am
2pm to 2.50pm
3pm to 3.50pm
There are also Marine Conservation Society (Seaweed search, Mermaid purse hunt) & Compass Arts events on at the same time, why not book a few activities together? To book, go to the Eastbourne Spring Water Festival web page and select the appropriate time.

River Rother Brand Audit – April 2021
Thank you to all the volunteers who cleared, transported, sorted, identified, recorded and disposed of the huge mountain of rubbish that was found in the banks of the River Rother.

Fairlight Cove Clean-up and Survey – May 2021
Strandliners volunteers were back behind the berm at Fairlight Cove and after 6 sessions, approximately 45 bags of bottles, polystyrene and general rubbish were collected from the undergrowth and lagoon. This rubbish had mainly been washed in there after storms and high tides in the past.
The Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat crew set out on the last day to collect the bagged rubbish and brought it back to Pett Level for Rother District Counciland Biffa to collect the next day.
Thank you to everyone involved – Not just a cleaner beach but vital data recorded.
